Ellen Rutherford has recently resigned from the Parish Council. We would like to record our thanks to Ellen for her assistance and advice, especially with legal matters and we wish her well for the future.
This means we now have a vacancy and, in accordance with the legislation, please see the notice below.

PARISH OF BROOMHAUGH & RIDING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
Pursuant to section 87(2) of the Local Government Act 1972, that Ellen Rutherford formerly a Member of the above-named Parish Council, has ceased to be a Member of the Parish Council, and that a vacancy now exists in the office of Councillor for the Parish.
If, within 14 days (*) after the date of this notice (i.e. no later than 11th September 2025), a request for an election to fill the vacancy is made to The Returning Officer, Elections Office, Northumberland County Council, County Hall, Morpeth, NE61 2EF by TEN electors for the Parish (Ward), an election will be held to fill the vacancy, otherwise the vacancy will be filled by co-option.
